Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team.
Walt Disney lost his job with the Kansas City Star newspaper because he “lacked imagination and had no good ideas.”
Oprah Winfrey was fired from her job as a news reporter because she was “unfit for television.”
And I’m sure these weren’t the first of their failures. To win in life you have to fail. Time and time again.
Imagine life as a game of odds. You take a risk in hopes of success, only to fail. At this point you can make one of two choices.. choice #1: Admit defeat and painlessly end the game. Or choice #2: Try again. You choose choice number 2 over and over. Each time becoming a little wiser and a little hungrier. You continue on knowing that with each failure your odds of success increase exponentially. Finally, the time comes when you’ve accomplished what you set out for.
Looking back, do you regret the blood, sweat, and tears you shed to achieve your goals? Or do you embrace them for transforming you into a winner?
When you accept failure you can no longer fail.
Losing ceases to be losing. It’s now lessons learned.
Winning ceases to be winning. It’s now a way of life.
